Dr. Ronald Long was an Anesthesiologist at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro for 15 years. During Dr. Long’s employment at Wayne Memorial Hospital, he served as Department of Anesthesiology Chairman, and in 1984, he established Wayne Anesthesia.

As his passion and focus changed to the pain industry, Dr. Long resigned from Wayne Memorial Hospital in 1999 to pursue a career in pain management.  After additional education, Dr. Long opened Goldsboro Pain Medicine in 2002.  The practice grew quickly, and his multifaceted approach was far reaching in eastern North Carolina.  Dr. Long changed the practice name in 2006 to Eastern Regional Pain Specialists to better reflect the clinics presence across the eastern part of the state.

Dr. Lathan McCall is a double board-certified physician in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine who joined Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic and Eastern Regional Pain Specialists in 2021. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, he earned his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Middlebury College in Vermont, and conducted basic science research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City before medical school. He received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, completed an internship and two years of general surgery residency, and went on to complete both his anesthesiology residency and his pain medicine fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was named Intern of the Year during his general surgery training and Pain Clinic Resident of the Year at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. McCall’s practice emphasizes interventional spine treatment for a wide range of pain conditions, and he pioneered the use of the Intracept procedure, a minimally invasive treatment for vertebrogenic low back pain, in the Triangle area. His research has been published in Microbiology, PLoS One, and Pain Medicine Case Reports. Outside of the clinic he enjoys gardening, motorsports, and gaming with his family, including his golden retriever, Ruby.

Dr. Heath Fallin is a double board-certified physician in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, certified in both by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He earned a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in History and his Doctor of Medicine, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and completed his anesthesiology residency and his pain management fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Before medical school, he served four years in the United States Navy. Dr. Fallin held a director role at Meadville Medical Center in Pennsylvania from 2010 to 2019 before returning to his North Carolina roots, where he founded Kinston Regional Pain Center. His practice centers on interventional pain management, including neuromodulation and complementary therapies, and he is known for listening closely and building each treatment plan around the patient’s own goals. He sees patients age 18 and older.

Eastern Regional Pain Specialist is pleased to welcome Michelle Fleck, FNP to our practice.  Michelle was born and raised in Wilson County.  She has proudly served our country in the military and was stationed at SJAFB.  Michelle and her husband moved to Wayne County in 2003 and have two children.

Allison Thomas is a native of Goldsboro, NC. She graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2000 and then attended UNC Chapel Hill. She is a true “Tar Heel” born and bred as she graduated in 2004 with her Bachelor’s in Nursing and then went on to obtain her Master’s degree as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 2008. Allison has worked in pain management for over 7 years and truly enjoys establishing a therapeutic relationship with her patients on a personal level.

Jessica is a physician assistant caring for patients with chronic pain and spine-related conditions in Goldsboro, using a combination of interventional procedures and comprehensive pain management strategies. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a minor in Spanish for the Health Professions, from Truman State University, and went on to complete both her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and her Doctor of Medical Science at Southern Illinois University. Her professional interests include musculoskeletal disease, spine disorders, and improving quality of life for patients living with chronic pain through interventional treatment. She is a member of the North Carolina Academy of Physician Associates and the American Academy of Physician Associates. Jessica is passionate about patient-centered care and helping her patients restore function and independence. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, running, and spending time with friends and family.
