Eastern Regional Pain Specialists is an interventional pain management practice in Goldsboro, North Carolina. We treat acute and chronic pain for patients across the eastern part of the state, and we have been caring for this community since 2002.

Our team includes three double board-certified physicians in anesthesiology and pain medicine, alongside a physician assistant and two nurse practitioners. Non-surgical procedures are performed in our on-site procedure center. The practice is part of NeuroCarolina and Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic.

Our goal is to relieve both acute and chronic pain, increase everyday activities, and help each patient return to a more productive and balanced life. We take a comprehensive team approach, which includes — but is not limited to — physical therapy, education and coping skills, consultation, medication management, non-surgical procedures in our on-site procedure center, and continued care visits.

Our history

Dr. Ronald Long practiced as an anesthesiologist at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro for fifteen years, serving as Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology, and in 1984 he established Wayne Anesthesia.

As his focus shifted toward pain medicine, Dr. Long left Wayne Memorial Hospital in 1999 to pursue a career in pain management. After further training, he opened Goldsboro Pain Medicine in 2002. The practice grew quickly and its multifaceted approach reached patients well beyond Wayne County. In 2006 the name changed to Eastern Regional Pain Specialists, better reflecting the clinic’s presence across the eastern part of the state.

The practice has grown steadily since, adding physicians, a physician assistant and nurse practitioners to the team.
