Pain in the lower pack can be debilitating and yet it’s one of the most common complaints from patients. According to a recent study by Lancet, lower back pain is a leading cause of disability and affects more than 85% of adults. Although lower back pain can greatly affect quality of life, there are many treatments available. 

When patients come in complaining of lower back pain, they are typically referring to the lumbar region of their spine which consists of the vertebrae L1 through L5. The lumbar spine carries a lot of the weight of the body causing more frequent injury or inflammation. The most common causes of pain in the lumbar region include muscle strain, heavy lifting, bending, herniated discs, etc.
